Junior AI Voice Engineer (Germany)
We are hiring Junior AI Voice Engineers to work on AI voice agent systems used by businesses across multiple industries.
This role is based in Germany.
We do not hire through CVs or interviews alone — instead, we hire through real work and performance.
This page explains how we hire.
About the Role
As a Junior AI Voice Engineer, you will work on AI-powered voice agents that handle inbound and outbound calls for real business use cases.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building, testing, and improving AI systems, not theory or coursework.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Build and improve AI voice agent workflows
Design and test conversational logic for phone calls
Handle edge cases, failures, and fallback scenarios
Test and validate AI agent behavior in sandbox environments
Work with senior engineers on AI system improvements
Demonstrate completed solutions and explain technical decisions
Salary (Germany)
€3,000 – €3,600 net per month
Final compensation depends on tax class, location, and employment terms.
This compensation applies after hiring, not during the internship.
We do not believe that CVs or interviews alone are enough to evaluate AI engineers.
Instead, we hire through a performance-based internship and evaluation pathway.
This internship is how candidates prove they can deliver real results.
If you want to be hired, you must complete this evaluation path successfully.

This internship is delivery-focused, not observational.
You are expected to build complete solutions independently and demonstrate working results.
Core Responsibilities During the Internship
You will be responsible for:
Building AI voice agents end-to-end using modern AI voice platforms
Designing full call flows (greetings, intent handling, fallbacks, transfers, endings)
Creating automations and backend logic that support AI agent behavior
Connecting AI voice agents with external systems such as CRMs, calendars, databases, and APIs
Delivering working, testable solutions for realistic business scenarios
Debugging failures, edge cases, and unexpected call behavior
Improving agent reliability, performance, and conversation quality
Working independently on assigned evaluation projects and internal simulations
AI Voice Platforms
You should be able to:
Configure AI voice agents from scratch
Set up prompts, system instructions, and logic
Handle interruptions, silence, retries, and fallback paths
Configure call transfers, voicemail handling, and call termination

(Exact platforms may vary. The ability to learn and adapt quickly is mandatory.)
Automation & Workflow Tools
You should be able to work independently with tools such as:
n8n
Zapier
You should know how to:
Build multi-step automation workflows
Trigger automations from calls, webhooks, or events
Send and receive data via APIs
Handle conditions, delays, retries, and errors
Maintain clean, reliable automation logic
API & System Integration
You should be comfortable with:
Webhooks
REST APIs
JSON data structures
And connecting AI agents to:
CRMs
Calendars
Spreadsheets
Internal tools
Simulated client systems
You do not need to be a backend engineer, but you must understand how systems communicate.
Independence & Work Style (Very Important)
This internship is not suitable if you require:
Step-by-step instructions
Constant supervision
Detailed tutorials or hand-holding
You are expected to:
Read documentation independently
Test and debug issues on your own

Take ownership of tasks and outcomes
What You Do NOT Need
You do not need:
A formal computer science degree
Prior corporate job experience
Perfect knowledge of every tool

Practical ability
Speed of learning
Reliability
Execution quality
Important Note
This is a performance-based evaluation internship.
The work you complete is designed to reflect real production requirements, and successful performance is the basis for hiring decisions.
If you enjoy building systems that behave like real-world solutions and are comfortable being evaluated on results, this internship is designed for you.
